Description Our 200yr old hotel is situated in one of the most beautiful areas of South West Scotland. It is on the edge of the Galloway forest park, 2 miles from the Glentrool visitors centre and less than 400m from the Southern Upland Way. Surrounded by breathtaking views and scenery it is an ideal base for keen walkers, cyclists, fishing enthusiasts or anyone who just wants to 'get away from it all' and relax. The Merrick summit (843m), the highest peak in Dumfries and Galloway, is within easy reach of the hotel as are the many purpose built cycle trails through the forest. For fishing, there is the river Cree and numerous lochs. Visit Bruce's Stone, where famous battles took place centuries ago and take in the magnificent spectacle of Loch Trool and its surrounding area. Walk through the forest and take pleasure in the abundant wildlife and the great Scots Pines. We cater for overnight stays or longer breaks - take pleasure in the pleasant atmosphere and warm hospitality. Appreciate our delicious home cooked food, then sit and enjoy a drink by the fire or have a friendly game of pool or darts. We have at present, two ensuite rooms which can be let as single, double or triple rooms. Each has a colour TV, tea and coffee making facilities and a hair dryer. Washing facilities are available on request and well behaved dogs are welcomed by prior arrangement.
